Stirling Aquathon, Novice and Sprint Triathlon

These all looked like good races taking place in Stirling University's new fifty metre pool, split into two 25m with the pontoon, allowing heats to start alternately & quickly. Unfortunately I was unable to compete. I had entered the Aquathon but pulled out on the day because I jarred my back a few days before and I was still in pain!

My friend Charlotte McShane competed and won her age group. She enjoyed the race and I'm sure all competing thought it was great.

The only hitch during the day when some one pressed the fire alarm/panic button during one of the Novice Triathlon Swimming heats. Everyone in the pool and building had to traipse outside looking like something from Star Wars with space blankets, caps and goggles! Of course two fire engines arrived and inspected the building. When they had left the creatures from Star Wars shed their space blankets and leapt back into the pool for their heat!

The goodie bags were excellent and well over the value of the entry price of £5. Overall, a very well organised event.
