This was the selection race for the British team for the European Youth Relays in Austria this year. The swim was in a reservoir which was so cloudy that you couldn't even see your hand straight in front of your face.
Just before the start of the race it started to rain.
The buoys that we had to swim round were clear and because I am short sighted I had a bit of a problem seeing them. The zip of my wetsuit got a bit stuck but I managed to get it undone after a bit.
The rest of the race went really well and I managed to finish!! However there was a mix up when the finishing order was not recorded. This was really annoying on the day because Fiona Lothian, the Scottish Junior Squad coach, thought I was either third or fourth in my age group. The first three in each age group get to travel to Austria to the European Relays, so I really wanted to know if I was third or fourth! Last week I received the results and it says that I came fourth. Oh well, I've always got next year!

Overall it would have been a very good race if the organisers hadn't messed up the results. Rachel Hughes was the only successful Scottish candidate. She came first in the 16/17 age group and later this year she will be travelling to Austria as a member of the British squad.
