Before the start

Malcolm thankfully managed to capture some of the early stages of the run, since I managed to miss ALL the under-12's

12-15 age group

Lomond Tri Club's Hatty Floyd + Stuart Fraser were the first of the out of the pool onto the run, pursued by the rest of the pack

Stuart gaining on team-mate Hatty with the rest close behind

starting their second lap as the first of the 16-19's left the pool

Graeme Lyons coming in to the finish

Then the rain came down so I missed out on the 16-19's too - sorry!

(below) Aquathon Series 'regular' Vince Daly floating on air over the puddles

The important bit - the prizegiving

S.T.A. Aquathon Series co-ordinator Liz Broad
with Lomond Tri Club President Frank McShane

Under-12 boys

John Leonard - bronze - and Calum Crotch (of West Dunbartonshire ASC) - gold

At this point my first SmartChip was full so I missed a couple of shots while I put in an empty one ...

Here's Charlotte McShane of Lomond Tri [under-12 gold medal], going back to rejoin fellow Aquathon Series 'regulars' Kirsten Daly of AyroDynamics [under-12 silver medal] and club-mate Hatty Floyd

Why was there only one 12-13 boy, when boys were in the majority in the older age groups? Well done, Thomas Leonard - a blistering swim time and an excellent run - look forward to seeing more of you!

12-13 girls - Laura Jeffrey (bronze), Nicola Flynn (silver) and Hatty Floyd (gold)

Nicola and Hatty both swim with West Dunbartonshire ASC

Victoria Christie, too, found herself in a class of one 14-15 girls

14-15 boys was one of the most hotly-contested classes. The swimmers of West Dunbartonshire ASC swept the board of medals [swimming in their home pool, of course]

Robert O'Donnell (bronze), Mark Flynn (silver) and Graeme Lyons (gold)

16-17 boys was again fought out by a large group

Not sure which is missing below out of Stuart Cook (bronze), Andrew Davie (silver), Blair Cartmell (gold) - maybe somebody could let me know?

Again in a class of his own, another excellent WDASC swimmer, Gary Lyons took gold in the 18-19 boys

And finally, showing the youngsters how it's done, Robert McDonald and Vince Daly

A big problem in all juvenile sport is the loss of youngsters in the under-16 age group as increased homework and the lure of discos takes its toll. To try to slow this down, Lomond Tri Club presented an additonal annual trophy to the fastest overall boy and girl in the combined 12/13 and 14/15 age groups

This year - Hatty Floyd and Graeme Lyons
